Albany, NY on the Hudson River

We passed through the last 7 locks on the Erie Canal today!  Lock numbers 2-6 are called the Flight of  Five because they span a total length of 1.5 miles and drop a total of 170 feet!  The very last lock (or the very first one – depending on which way you are traveling) is a Federal Lock.  Picture of this lock is shown below.  We had to celebrate when we arrived at the Albany Yacht Club on the Hudson River – we completed 340 miles on the Erie Canal and passed through 35 locks!  We will travel 140 miles on the Hudson River before we reach New York City!  We left Michigan almost one month ago – Silent Dream’s salon doesn’t look bad for a month of living aboard!
