Boqueron, Puerto Rico

We arrived on the west coast of Puerto Rico on December 16, 2015 and anchored in Boqueron.  In the town of Boqueron, there is just about everything a cruiser needs, restaurants, bars, min-market, gas station, water, laundry service and ice.  One of our friends has a car and were so kind to take us to the big box stores in the nearby town of Mayaguez to Sam’s Club, Home Depot, and a supermarket.  We stayed for three weeks waiting for the weather to cooperate to cruise the southern coast of Puerto Rico against the east trade winds.  During this time, we met up with many cruisers we already knew and a few new ones, too.  We were so fortunate to be with friends for Christmas and
New Year’s.  On Christmas Day, we celebrated at one of the cabanas for rent which includes a kitchen, bathroom, bedrooms, outdoor picnic table and a grill.  Everyone brought a dish or several to share and a full moon feast was enjoyed and celebrated by all.  As many of you know, New Year’s Eve is our wedding anniversary and this year we celebrated 21 years of happiness.  Again our cruising friends organized a midnight beach party complete with sparklers and a wish lantern.  It was sad to have to say goodbye to some of our cruising friends, but we know our paths will cross again soon.
