ICW – Thanksgiving Day in Beaufort, South Carolina

There are many ports that host a Thanksgiving Day Dinner for cruisers and Beaufort is one of them.  Lady’s Island Marina cooked four turkeys and two hams and all the cruisers in the area were invited and each brought a side dish.  We had a spectacular feast with over 100 attendees and almost 30 deserts!  During our stay here we took a horse and wagon ride through historic Beaufort.  There have been many movie scenes filmed here in Beaufort – Forrest Gump, Prince of Tides, The Big Chill, The Great Santini and many more.  We also took a side trip to Parris Island where Chuck completed his Marine Corps basic training 43 years ago.  There is a Marine Corps Museum on Parris Island two stories tall and full of the complete history of Parris Island and the Marine Corps.
