ICW – St. Augustine, Florida

We left Fernandina Beach on December 3rd, but had to wait for the fog to clear a little.  This was pea soup thick fog and this fog re-appeared every morning for the next several days.  We stayed one night in Jacksonville before heading to St. Augustine due to the shortened day.  St. Augustine is the oldest city in Florida and with a rich history.  While here, we provisioned via dinghy, toured a distillery, saw museums, watched a Christmas parade, watched the British Night Watch parade, strolled down St. George’s Street, and had the best view of the city holiday lights from our boat! We had to stay an extra day due to the weather blowing at 20-25 knots with gusts to 40!  Some of our fellow Rally sailors could not make it back to their mooring in their dinghy and had to spend the night on the boats of those of us that were in the marina.
